How To Join/Renew
Beginners
If you are new to archery, then you will need to complete a beginners’ course before you can join Rivernook Bowmen.
Beginners’ Course at Rivernook
Your beginners’ course can be at Rivernook – in which case on completion of the course there will be no need for further assessment before you can apply to join the club.
Beginners’ Course Elsewhere
If you have recently completed a beginners’ course elsewhere you will be asked to provide documentary evidence that you successfully completed the course and we will ask you to come and shoot with us as our guest prior to joining us. We’d like you to feel comfortable with us, the range and our facilities. We’d also like to meet you and see how you shoot. To arrange a visit please contact the club secretary or club president.
Experienced Archers
If you are, or have previously been, a member of another club or have otherwise gained experience in target archery, then we will ask you to come and shoot with us as our guest prior to joining us. We’d like you to feel comfortable with us, the range and our facilities. We’d also like to meet you and see how you shoot. To arrange a visit please contact the club secretary or club president.
Joining The Club
If, having met us and seen the facilities you would like to become a member of Rivernook Bowmen the next step is to download and fill in the Membership Application form and send it to the club secretary. All Memberships are subject to Committee approval (this is usually a formality).
If you don’t have access to a printer then a few hardcopy forms are usually available at the club.
Renewing Club Membership
Each year members are required to complete a Membership Application form and send it to the club secretary so that we can ensure that members data is kept up to date.
Membership Application Form
The Membership Application form is available here: Membership Form
Archery GB (AGB) Membership
All shooting members of Rivernook Bowmen are required, for insurance purposes, to be members of Archery GB and to comply with the AGB Rules of shooting. When you join Rivernook Bowmen you will also need to join Archery GB if you are not already a member of that organisation.
Archery GB membership is arranged and renewed by the club secretary via the AGB on-line portal. Fees are collected by the club and paid to Archery GB on behalf of the member. (Note that although it is possible to join AGB directly it is cheaper to do so via a club.)
As a Surrey Club, Rivernook Bowmen are affiliated via AGB to the County of Surrey Archery Association and to the Southern Counties Archery Society Region. County and Region fees are due at the same time as the AGB fees and are collected by the club for onward payment to the county and region. (Note that Direct members of AGB are expected to be members of their county and region and will need to pay the requisite fees to the county/region directly.)
